Hey everybody, I am new here, so I thought I would check it out here for awhile. Started listening to country last May and I really dig this stuff. Other music I like is heavy metal, classic rock, blues, jazz, basically everything that isn't rap or hip hop.

Anyways for this thread...I am a musician at heart. I play alto, bari, tenor saxophones, guitar, bass guitar, piano/keyboards, harmonica, banjo, and fife. My question is though what are all the instruments necessary for a country band? I played professionaly in a rock band and a heavy metal band back in the 80's and would like to reach out my talent in other ways! Thanks ya.

Kenny , in reply to "what instruments are needed for a country band?" I would reccomend a bass guitar, drummer, pedal steel guitar, and lead guitar for the basic band. To add some finishing touches you could also include a keyboard, and twin fiddles to make agreat group.
It is encouraging to hear from new people that have discovered country

Ive played country music in dozens of venues with several bands....ive played rythm with shredding lead players......pedal steel players.....keyboards loud as heck drummers .......my band three guitars....kinda skynard style i guess...bass...drummer...mandolin ... harp and or fiddle... and we play tradional stuff....but some of the best music ive played or heard has been done in small venues either solo or with another guitar player .....country is all about heart....great lyrics are ok but foggy mountain breakdown has no words and its one of the best country songs ever....im in a cover band and we occationaly pull off some original stuff but country is meant to dance to and give people what they want to hear and people dont always wanna hear what you wrote in your bathroom
